~Who we are~
"We're a community of homeschool families building a healthy, dynamic learning environment for kids."
Garden Street Co-op (incorporated under the name Garden Street Homeschoolers) is a
once a week Christian, parent-led co-operative that strives to create a safe and
enjoyable environment for homeschooling families.
Our goal is to give families the opportunity to grow, learn, and partake in a
supportive group as they navigate their homeschooling journeys.
It’s also our desire to share the Christian gospel with
participants and to further the interests of home education in adherence to
Washington State homeschool laws.
We meet once a week on Fridays during our fall and spring sessions. We use field trips
and small get-togethers for winter and summer breaks to remain connected in
between quarters. Each session runs a full 10 weeks.

~How it all started~
In September of 2021 families from the community met together at Lexington Bible Fellowship to discuss the potential of a homeschool co-op. The group's beginnings were quite shaky and unorganized, and the burden of leading a co-op was overwhelming for the leadership. Within a few weeks it looked like the group was going to disband and be deemed a failure. However, the group was quickly scooped up by our current director, Michelle DeCamp. Having never led a co-op before, Michelle went about studying, researching, and reaching out to other local co-ops for help. She implemented some much needed structure and organization to the group and encouraged parents to help in leading classes and activities. The group went through a lot of trial and error in it's first year, but by Fall of 2022 Garden Street Co-op had established itself as a successful homeschoolers cooperative. Now the co-op serves an average of 15 families every quarter, with an average of 25 kids.
